TEN FACTS ABOUT THE BRAIN

Standard

1.80% of the brain is water. This means that it is important that you remain properly hydrated for the sake of your mind.

2.Our brain is more active at night as compared to day.

3. Information travels along neurons at different speeds. This is why sometimes you can recall information instantly, and sometimes it takes a little longer.

4.Our brain makes up only 2% of our body weight yet it requires 20% of oxygen that enters our bloodstream.

5. Alcohol interferes with brain processes by weakening connections between neurons.

6. Laughing at a joke is no simple task as it requires activity in five different areas of the brain. That’s why the Prophet Muhamad(SAW) advised us not to laugh exhaustively

7. Differences in brain weight and size do not equal differences in mental ability. The weight of Albert Einstein’s brain was 1,230 grams that is less than an average weight of the human brain.

8. A living brain is so soft you could cut it with a table knife.

9. There are about 100,000 miles of blood vessels in the brain.

10. The brain can live for 4 to 6 minutes without oxygen, and then it begins to die. No oxygen for 5 to 10 minutes will result in permanent brain damage.

Mathematical Solutions by iman Ali a.s.(Cousin of prophet Muhammad(PBUH)

Standard

One day a person came to imam Ali a.s., thinking that since ‘Ali a.s.thinks he is too smart, I’ll ask him such a tough question that he won’t be able to answer it and I’ll have the chance to embarrass him in front of all the Arabs.’

He asked Ali a.s., “Tell me a number, that if we divide it by any number from 1-10 the answer will always come in the form of a whole number and not as a fraction.”

Hazrat Ali A.S. looked back at him and said, “Take the number of days in a year and multiply it with the number of days in a week and you will have your answer.”

The person got astonished but as he was a Mushrik he still didn’t believe Ali a.s. He calculated the answer Ali a.s. gave him. To his amazement he came across the following results:
The number of Days in a Year = 360 (in Arabic Calendar)

The Number of Days in a Week = 7

The product of the two numbers = 2520

2520 divided by 1 = 2520

2520 divided by 2 = 1260

2520 divided by 3 = 840

2520 divided by 4 = 630

2520 divided by 5 = 504

2520 divided by 6 = 420

2520 divided by 7 = 360

2520 divided by 8 = 315

2520 divided by 9 = 280

2520 divided by 10= 252

ANOTHER QISWA

One day a person came to Ali a.s. He was planning to ask Ali a.s. such a question which would take Ali a.s. a long time to answer and because of that, his Maghrib Prayers would be delayed.

He asked Ali a.s. “You say you know everything in the world, then tell me which animals lay eggs and which animals give birth to their young ones.”

Hazrat Ali a.s. looked at him, smiled and said, “The animals who have their ‘EARS’ outside their body give birth to their young ones; and the animals who have their ‘EARS’ inside their body lay eggs.”

ANOTHER EXAMPLE

A person was about to die, and before dying he wrote his Will which went as follows…
“I have 17 Camels, and I have three sons. Divide my Camels in such a way that My eldest son gets half of them, the second one gets 1/3rd of the total and my youngest son gets 1/9th of the total number of Camels”

After his death when the relatives read his will they got extremely perplexed and said to each other that how can we divide 17 camels like this?

So, after a long hard thought, they decided that there was only one man in Arabia who could help them: “Ali Ibne Abi Taalib.” They all went to the door of Ali a.s. and put forward their problem!

Hazrat Ali a.s. said, “Ok. I will divide the camels as per the mans’ will.”

He said, “I will lend one of my camels to the total which makes it 18 (17+1=18), now lets divide as per his will.

The Eldest gets 1/2 of 18 = 9
The second one gets 1/3 of 18 = 6
and the Youngest gets 1/9 of 18 = 2
Now the total number of camels = 17”

Then Hazrat Ali a.s. said, “Now I will take my Camel back.”

This was the genius that Hazrat Ali a.s. was in his time! 7th century a.d.

The Gravitational Pull of ANTs, WORMS & FEARS

Standard

What is an ANT?
An ANT is an acronym for Automatic Negative Thoughts.

What is a WORM?
A WORM is a metaphor for deep-seated, unconscious beliefs that lye dormant in our consciousness analogous to a computer virus that only activates when a certain button is pushed on our keyboard.

What is a FEAR?
A FEAR is False Evidence Appearing Real; an optical illusion that makes you believe it is impossible to move beyond this point so why even try. FEAR is a lie!

ANTs are pre-conscious thoughts, beliefs, ideas that keep us trapped in our comfort zone. They exist to stop us from moving to far ahead of our current environment. They cause us to become uncomfortable with our potential and possibility.

They exist to keep us in a holding pattern where we don’t act or do anything to better ourselves. They keep us stagnated and stifled. They cause us to sabotage our good.

WORMS are much stronger than ANTs and are more insidious and pervasive. If we are focused, we can overcome an ANT with sheer will power, but will power up against a WORM [deep seated, dominant belief] is like one soldier up against an entire army. A WORM will destroy will power and we will automatically sabotage our life and act in a manner consistent with our dominant beliefs.

For instance, we might have an ANT that says, “I’m not good enough to be with this person.” If we force our way through that automatic negative thought using shear will power and continue to stay in the relationship, the ANT may be crushed but then the WORM will appear and may say, “You ARE NOT good enough to be with that person so why are you trying ? LOSER!” At that moment when the unconscious, dominant belief has you in its grips, you will begin to slowly or abruptly (depending on frequency) sabotage the relationship in some shape, form or fashion.

The Law of Attraction
The law of attraction simply means that you attract in life what you are not what you want and what you are is what you think about when you are not thinking about anything. The law of attraction states who you are ? your dominant beliefs and unconscious thoughts; i.e., DNA (see SHOCKphilosophy? Principle #4) — ANTs, WORMS and FEARS.

I am sure you have heard the term, like attracts like. It’s the reason why rich people hang out with rich people and poor people hang out with poor people. What we must be mindful of is our DNA programming is designed not to go outside of its comfort zone for extended periods of time. With that said, it’s understandable why we feel uncomfortable when we are around something or someone we have never been exposed to that stretches us, challenges us to be more, do more and having more. So it is our DNA programming; ANTs, WOMRS, and FEARS that keep us locked into this vicious cycle that gives the illusion of progression when in fact we are on auto-repeat; just standing still. We then attract people, places and things in our life to confirm this process and keep us in a holding pattern.

The law of attraction is so powerful that if you had two pianos in different rooms and struck the c-note on the first piano the other piano’s c-chord would be vibrating as well. The law of attraction is gravitational which is why in order to move to the next quantum or level in life we must first move and expand our consciousness so that we can attract a different outcome.

In order to move from one gravitational pull to another, we must become comfortable with being uncomfortable, face our ANTs, WORMS and FEARS and learn how to handle next level thinking. When you expand consciousness, expand spiritually, emotionally and psychologically, you automatically move into another vibration or gravitational pull.

You will also bring along with you for the ride and new set of ANTs, WORMS and FEARS whose soul purpose is to push or pull you to yet another level by making your current level content and hopefully unconformable.

This is why it is so very important and necessary to learn how to neutralize your ANTs, WORMS and FEARS because it causes you to move in quantum steps verses minute steps. You shorten your learning curve and lesson your barriers to entry at the next level in life when you confront the DNA programming that is keeping you where you are ?
within the Gravitational Pull of ANTs, WORMS & FEARS.

A dialogue between a Flower and a Pearl

Standard

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful  بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

One day, a brilliantly beautiful and fragrant flower with attractive colors met a pearl that lives far in the bottom of the sea and has none of these characteristics. Both got acquainted with each other.

The flower said : “Our family is large; roses and daisies are members of the family. And there are many other species that are various and countless, each has a distinctive scent, appearance .etc.”

Suddenly, a tinge of distress appeared on the  flower.

“Nothing accounts for sorrow in your talk; so why are depressed?” The pearl asked.

“Human beings deal with us carelessly; they slight us. They don’t grow us for our sake but to get pleasure from our fragrance and beautiful appearance. They throw us on the street or in the garbage can after we are dispossessed of the most valuable properties; brilliance and fragrance” The flower sighed.

And then the flower said to the pearl : “Speak to me about your life! How do you live? How do you feel it? You are buried in the bottom of the sea. ”

The pearl answered: “Although I have none of your distinctive colors and sweet scents, humans think I am precious. They do the impossible to procure me. They go on long journeys, dive deep in the seas searching for me. You might be astounded to know that the further I lay, the more beautiful and brilliant I become. That’s what upraises my value in their thought. I live in a thick shell isolated in the dark seas. However, I’m happy and proud to be in a safe zone far from wanton and mischievous hands and still the humans consider me highly valuable

Do you know what the flower and the pearl symbolize?

The Flower is the unveiled woman (who shows her charms) and the Pearl is the veiled woman (who conceals her beauties)

THE PAINTING STORY ABOUT LIFE

Standard

There was a king who was a great admirer of art. He encouraged artists from all over his country and gave them valuable gifts.

One day an artist came and said to the king, “Oh King! Give me a blank wall in your palace and let me paint a picture on it. It will be more beautiful
than anything you have ever seen before. I promise you shall not be disappointed. ” Now, the king happened to be constructing a big hall at the rear end of the palace. So he said, “All right you may work on one of the walls in the new hall.”

So the artist was given the job and he was very pleased indeed. Just then, another young man said, “Oh King! Please allow me to work on the opposite
wall. I too am an artist.”

The king said, “What would you like to make?”

The man said, “My Lord, I shall make exactly what that man will make on the opposite wall. Moreover, I shall do so, without looking at his work. I
would even request you to have a thick curtain put up between the two walls so that either of us cannot see the other.” Now, that was a tall statement.
Everyone in the king’s court, including the king and the first artist were intrigued. But the king loved surprises and he decided to give the young
fellow a chance. The following day a thick curtain was put into place and both the artists got to work. The first artist brought in a regular supply
of paint, oil, water etc. The second one would come with a cloth and a bucket of water every day.

After a month the first artist told the king that his work was complete and he would like to show it to the king. The king sent for the second artist
and asked him, “Young man, when would your work be ready? I am coming to see the first wall this evening.”

The man said, “My Lord, my wall is ready too!”

The king went to see the first artist’s wall. He was very, very impressed with the painting and gave a hefty sum as a reward to the artist. He then
asked for the curtain to be opened up

Lo and behold! The same painting was to be seen on the opposite wall too!

Amazing! But true! Each line, each minor detail was exactly as it was on the first wall. But this man had not been seeing what was going on, on the
other side of the curtain. So how had he done it? The king wanted to know the secret.

He gave a double reward to the fellow. Then he said, “Young man, I am indeed very happy with your work. But you must tell me; how did you do it?”

The lad said simply, “It’s very easy! I just polished the wall every day!”

It was a wall made of white marble! The fellow polished it till it shone like a mirror. The reflection of the painting across the room, showed up in
it!

That is what it means to polish yourself. For when we polish our hearts and souls, we see God’s reflection within.

It is said that the world is a reflection of you. Whatever you are, the world will seem to be that too. If you are sad, jealous, dejected, angry,
restless … that is what the world will seem to be!

If you are happy, the world will seem to be paradise.

You decide how you want your world to look…
